An official announced on Thursday that the government plans to withdraw approximately 1.1 crore disputed tax demands, amounting to Rs 3,500 crore, for the period up to 2014-15, as part of a Budget relief measure aimed at small taxpayers. Currently, there are nearly 2.7 crore disputed tax demands pending at various levels, with 2.1 crore of them valued at less than Rs 25,000.
