Shortly after taking off from Portland International Airport, Alaska Airlines Flight 1282 experienced an incident where a part of the plane blew off at an altitude of 16,000 feet. The incident prompted an immediate return to the airport. Passengers described the deployment of oxygen masks and a cabin filled with white vapor. The pilots declared an emergency due to depressurization and returned safely. Many countries grounded Boeing planes as a precautionary measure. Alaska Airlines temporarily grounded its Boeing 737-9 Max fleet, and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) grounded similar jets for inspections.
