India’s first-ever snow leopard population assessment reveals that Ladakh has the highest number of snow leopards (477), followed by Uttarakhand (124), Himachal Pradesh (51), Arunachal Pradesh (36), Sikkim (21), and J&K (9). The assessment was conducted by the Wildlife Institute of India with the support of the Nature Conservation Foundation, Mysuru, and WWF-India.
