Maharashtra increases monthly stipend for intern doctors at government medical colleges from Rs 11,000 to Rs 18,000, effective February 2024, in response to persistent demands citing low stipends compared to other states. Association of State Medical Interns (ASMI) advocated for the raise, pointing out stagnant stipend rates despite rising MBBS fees. Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) ended their strike after securing a promise of immediate stipend increase and regularization of payments.
