Prime Minister Narendra Modi hails the remarkable step in India’s energy journey as Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) begins oil production from its flagship deep-water project in the Krishna Godavari basin. The project will boost the mission for a self-reliant India and contribute to the economy. ONGC’s total oil and gas production is expected to increase by 11% and 15% respectively. The project faced technical challenges due to the waxy nature of the crude, but ONGC used innovative Pipe in Pipe technology and ‘Make in India’ fabrication to overcome them.
