Shakib Al Hasan, a prominent cricketer from Bangladesh, secured a parliamentary seat with an overwhelming victory during a general election that the opposition chose to boycott. The 36-year-old all-rounder, serving as the leader across all formats for the country’s cricket team, triumphed over his opponent by an impressive margin of over 150,000 votes in Magura, located in the western town of his constituency, as confirmed by the district’s chief administrator, Abu Naser Beg. After the win, Shakib landed himself in hot water after a video of him slapping a fan went viral on social media.
